CONCEPT "INTENSIFIED DIALOGUE"
Since its emergence within the visual arts, Performance Art has significantly shaken up contemporary art production and artistic processes of many different genres within and beyond the arts. The flexibility and difficulty of its definition offers multiple access points to other art forms. The intermedial approach is not only an achievement of performance art, but also a desire of other art disciplines to seek a different confrontation of artistic concepts with the challenges of our time.
Since the 1960s, performance has vastly expanded its manifestations and genres. The context and field of performance art is enormous and constantly expanding. This is both the potential and the characteristic of this ephemeral art form, as it can momentarily bring its essence to all kinds of social, political and artistic processes and developments.
In the 82nd edition of PAS | Performance Art Studies, we offer a practical, in-depth dialogue with performance art practice in relation to questions of space, body and form. This triangle is essential in performance art, but not exclusive. Sculpture, painting, dance, theatre, architecture or music, work as well with these artistic aspects to create, formulate and visualise. Engaging with these factors, with our bodies, identities and actions, allows a deep exploration of performance art that engages creative processes and provides access to individual work and concept development. In a variety of experimental settings, we will explore this triangle and create performance art works that bend given forms, expand space and engage the body. The performance art works created in this process will be presented to the audience in a festival-like public presentation at the end of the Studies at Galerie KUB.

GALERIE KUB
Galerie KUB
We are very happy that we found the vivid and engaged Galerie KUB in Leipzig to be the collaborator for PAS #82.
Besides the diverse and rich program Galerie KUB has been known as a place and reference for Performance Art since 2007. The Gallery, run by Franziska Eißner and Christian Liefke is hosting the international Performance Art Festival BLAUVERSCHIEBUNG and the monthly Performance Art Series BlueScreen.
PAS | Performance Art Studies has been involved with its PAS | Youth project in the performance events of Galerie KUB and BBB Johannes Deimling has presented his visual performances on several occasions. We are very much looking forward to another fruitful collaboration.
FEEDBACK FROM PARTICIPANTS
By Farnoosh A. Nik
“You managed somehow to ACTIVATE my creative spirit and provided the opportunity to expose it to others and to hear from them and to look into other’s mind and to WATCH ACTIVELY and to LISTEN RESPONSIVELY which are amazing skills that I forgot I have and I forgot to pleasure them.“
By Kevin Meehan
“I very very very much appreciated the “there is no wrong or right” motto and you sticking to it! I have heard these very words from other teachers and then very quickly it is revealed that there is in fact a “wrong”. But throughout the PAS Study I felt a growing freedom, a deeper confidence, and a respect for my gut impulses.”
By Veronika Merklein
“And there it was: “Trust your image, your action, yourself!”. PAS empowered me to take MY (performance) art more serious, called my attention to the structures of performances, co-performers in performances and especially really precisely to materials and objects. All in all, I learnt a general attentiveness and it gave me the needed boost to grow up and risk.” – (Veronika Merklein)
